I’m certainly thankful for all the kindness from my patients, friends and family. I’m trying to respond but a general thanks is sincere. I’ve heard from many of my doctor friends as well from all over the country. What a great network of people who still remember those days at Walter Reed. Everyone has been kind to us.
I guess I “ lucked out” on Wednesday morning. My nurse, from Nigeria, name is “ Goodluck”. — no joke. She is a singer on par with Adele. She kept me laughing throughout the day with a repeated tune of “am I the one you’re looking for?” I keep saying this, but these nurses so dedicated and making things as easy as can be for me.
I had a wonderful call from Martha’s dad. He is a Pastor in Trinidad. With his prayer, I have a lot of hope.
A wrote a poem for this day:
On Thanksgiving Day, he sits and prays
For relief from pain, for better days
Goodpasture’s weight, it presses down
Bad proteins gone, his kidneys’ crown
He hopes for healing, for a brighter light
For a life unburdened, free from the fight
A fresh start beckons, a new design
Kidneys strong, his health re-align
In Vermont’s chill, he finds his voice
A thankful heart, a hopeful choice
This Thanksgiving bring him peace
A step towards health, his worries release
Happy Thanksgiving! Again, thanks for all the support!!
Justine Nick and Martha will be bringing our meal right here. I wont count the electrolytes on this Thanksgiving!
